    there is only one way to record live tv. you are gonna need a computer with tv recorder card in that. then you plug in your sattelite cable into your computer instead of your tv and setup the software that comes with the tv recorder card and start recording live tv or movies or whatever you wana record. when you are done recording after that you can burn those recordings to dvd. once you burn on dvd you can watch them through your dvd player any time. as far as for recording on vhs you gonna have to hookup up your vhs with your computers tv recording card and then play the video that you wana record and puch record button on your vcr. it'll start recording . i know it sounds long and tough job but its fun when you are doing it. so good luck.
