If I torrent on a different Computer and someone else's wifi, can it still be tracked?

every wireless network adapter (or ethernet adapter) has a built in unique mac address. the router will keep logs of each action of all devices connected via mac address. you would need to be in wifi range to use it. so if someone really wanted to find you, it wouldnt be impossible. I dont think anyone would take it that far unless you are downloading something like child porn. since thats about the only time authorities get involved. All piracy cases are handled by lawyers and peopled payed by entertainment industry. and torrenting isnt illegal or wrong unless you are downloading copyrighted maternal w/o permission of the copyright holder. torrent is a network protocol, and itself is not bad. you can illegally download files through http or ftp just as easily as using a torrent. its just torrents are the most popular for illegal file sharing.

Well if you use a different PC then transfer it to your PC, then they can only track the other PC, and if your friend torrents on other person's WIFI his mac address can still be tracked if he's using his own PC that is but it's still wrong, Software Engineers - like myself spend hard earned hours to make software that someone exploits and deploys it freely, Multimedia Engineers - use a lot of resources and time then you punks basically just benefit free because of it. It's not right dude support the cause
