Can I install multiple VPS's on a debian server?

Can I install multiple VPS's on a debian server? If so could you please tell me how? I have just started to use debian, so could you please explain it in laymen's terms.

If you're using OpenVZ, you can use vzctl to add a VS onto your server. If you are trying to run a virtual server inside a virtual server, it probably won't work well, or if at all. - 32bitcrusade

The point of a Virtual Private Server is that you virtualize environments that are not effected by the others. Having a single VPS on a machine is pointless, that's the same as having a dedicated server.
