How to pause a http download and restart modem?

• using firefox would like to restart modem but download is halfway done, is it possible to pause download and restart modem then unpause and continue ?

  This all depends on how your downloading it.... Most downloads puts a copy on your computer... so if download gets interrupted copy gets cancelled and disappears. When you want restart download you will have to start process over, as copy only stays once finished. Most download managers copy in increments.... so if download gets interrupted it keeps what it downloaded (collected) and when you want to restart download it picks up where it left off. Get a Download manager... or you can use the protocol wget or get... its a very good downloading tool but its not GUI graphic user interface... but its the best way to download... Linux comes with GET but in windows you will have to download and install it.... if your a little bit teky go with get. Get is the protocol used to download any file, as its a remote download. ---------------------------------------... Also the modem is not the thing downloading... its the computer... turning off modem disconnects the connection.... BUT... the Computer keeps open the session... when the connection gets established again the computer will request the same session as it didn't restart and the browser or get was still initiated... The server will match the session and continue getting the file... But this can be changed as well as it depends on the Server... For Security purposes the Sever could delete all old session and force you to recreate another and restart the download process.
