    Hi Pete, The only speed bump that could slow things down is your Alienware & HDD compatibility [ SATA or PATA ]. The latter is an older version of connecting hardware [ DVD/CD drives, hard drives, etc. ] to motherboard. PATA is a 'ribbon' looking cable. If this is so, from Experience. Do NOT purchase adapter to connect SATA. instead purchase SATA compatible hardware. Good luck in your endeavors. Happy computing.

Is your issue with the physical act of putting the drive into the new PC, or having it run on the new PC? As both products are SATA connections, there shouldn't be any difficulty in moving the drive. Having it run, however, is another matter. Barring a wild quirk of fortune, somewhat like winning the lottery, it won't come up on the different machine. You'll either bluescreen or go into an infinite reboot loop. I suspect someone really well-versed in SysPrep could deal with the architectural and drivers differences between the two machines, but that's quite specialized knowledge. Art
