dvd players read a single strict format, and must be authored in a single session, and then closed. pc's read all sorts of data, and you have likely burned any odd sort of movie files as data, in multisession. if you want it to work on a dvd player, you need authoring software, and it must be able to read the type of disk you burn to. this is why disks as a medium are passing away. many media players now are far cheaper and have a usb flash drive port and play any type of media without verification. a roku, for example, can do this, or simply stream your movie data over wlan, and the whole package is only around $60
