    testdisk would be the program to use, you can install it from a live linux disc. you will attempt to recover the previous partitions, not just files. i have not used it before but it is a good tool. finding the right guide is something you may have to do, unless it doesnt require one... have a look at this video, watch it twice and read to understand: (if you have gpt partition table then choose that option). you may need to do a further deep scan. its an old video but thats the general idea. http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Step_By_Step

Lubuntu is one of those more unusual Linux distros that do not offer to install alongside Windows but instead it takes over the whole hard drive. Have a look in your explorer to see if there is another partition that still contains your Windows data.

as y found out, there is no undo for installing an OS.
