Why does NHL have fewer games than MLB?

Because hockey is significantly harder on the body than baseball. Baseball is not a contact sport; hockey is.

Basically it's an easier sport to play. Baseball players can play 3 or 4 days in a row and you don't notice any signs of fatigue. The exception being they use a different picture. They occasionally play 2 games in one day. Whereas hockey they tend to play 3 times a week. Any more and you do notice fatigue. however occasionally play 2 games in 2 days. On a minor note, don't forget the NHL has a slightly longer playoffs than MLB.

Hockey takes a lot more of a toll on the body than does baseball, also travel can be a lot bigger distance (Albeit rare, a flight from Vancouver to Tampa or Miami is quite extreme) baseball series are typically 3 or 4 games whereas hockey unless teams are very close to eachother, rarely have a home-and-home series on consecutive nights. Another factor to consider is that most hockey games are at night, whereas baseball often has a day game or early evening starting time.

NHL is spreaded out longer because they get their asses kicked unlike mlb, mlb is in the summer / fall because there is nothing else going on

NHL players take more of a beating.

If you think about it- Preseason= 9 games Regular Season=82 games Playoffs= Maximum of 28 games In total theres actually a maximum total of 119 games, just that its divied up.

Because of the physical nature of the game. There is no way anyone would last 162 games a season intact.

Not sure why. MLB instead of playing 162 I think they should only play 120 games.
