How do you bar spin on a BMX bike?

Front wheel on bmx doesn't spin freely when on bike.?

  • I have a Sealed shadow conspiracy hub and it spins fine when its loose but once I tighten it to the forks its a little harder to spin.

  • Answer:

Well, that hub actually does used sealed bearings. Have you replaced the bearings or removed them for some reason? If so, it is likely that either the bearings were put in backwards (yes, they can be installed backwards) or they weren't pressed in correctly. If they are even a tiny bit crooked or a tiny bit too far out they will bind up. Another possibility is spacing. Does the hub fit perfectly within the fork or is it a little loose (forcing you to "squeeze" the fork together when tightening the bolts) or a little tight (requiring that you "spread" the forks for the wheel to fit in the fork)? If so, you have a fork problem, not a hub problem.
