What does an A negative blood type signal?

Anyone know what blood type is compatible with AB- with the rh negative factor?

  • TTC and I am AB- with rh negative factor. Would like to know if anyone has experienced this as well. What blood types are compatible with my blood type?

  • Answer:

Easy answer: you can take any of O-, A-, B-, AB-. More complicated answer: There are three main antigens in blood, which are called A, B, and Rh (which is called +/-). You can accept blood with an antigen only if you already have that antigen. So, a person with AB- (you) can accept blood that has no antigens (O-), or A antigens (A-), or B antigens (B-), or both A and B antigens (AB-), but not Rh antigens (no + for you). This also means that a person who has AB+ can take blood from anyone, but only give to other AB+. A person with O- can give to anyone, but only take from other O-.
