What do you do in the Canadian reserves?

Can you pick what pilot job you get in the canadian air force reserves?

  • I wanna be a fighter pilot for the air reserves, do they pick your job(search and rescue, fighter..) depending on how you do or do you get to pick?

  • Answer:

If you are in reserves, you won't be a fighter pilot unless you already have military experience. In order to fly fighter jets, you need to be a full time RCAF officer. Reservists traditionally serve in support roles. The competition for the very few fighter pilot positions is furious. Only the top of the class are even considered. Usually officer candidates for fighter pilot school are university graduates. If you have flight experience, you will have a chance at a pilot occupation, IF the unit in your area has the occupation available. As well you will need maths, physics, English etc: English (ENG4(U)) Mathematics: Calculus and Vectors (MCV4(U), or Que 536) Mathematics: Advanced Functions (MHF4(U)) Physics (SPH4(U)) One additional science course/credit You can pick the occupation you are interested in, but if it's full, you'll have to pick another one.
