You mean driver license, I assume. Yes you can. And I'm almost 100% sure that you won't have to surrender your Australia License, much less your citizenship. All that you need to get a driver license in all states is to be legally present in the country, and be a resident of that state. Being a resident of that state (in most states) means to have lived at least 90 days in that state; have a job there; pay property taxes; or pay state taxes in your tax return. If you own a house there, that's more than enough evidence. You will also need to provide your U.S. Social Security Number, or have an immigration status that doesn't provide you a Social Security Number (SSN). You may also need to pass the written and driver test if that state doesn't have a driver license "reciprocity" with Australia.
