    You will not get fruit until the trees are 5-6 years old. Apple trees grown from seed are not true to the original apple either. The trees can be large or small and the fruit can be big, small, bitter, or you might strike lucky and get a decent apple but the odds are against you. Apple trees sold commercially are grafted on to certain size rootstock and you know exactly what apple you are getting.

Of course trees are still grown from seed... It's how we get new varieties. trees aren't grown from seed anymore. all trees now are hibreds, either root stock or grafts. the seeds might grow, but the tree won't produce fruit.
