Answer:
they are not bulbs but plants and once established they do not like to be disturbed, You can collect the seed pods after they have dried and turned brown and plant the seeds, Poppies grow very easiy from seed, I have lots of them that I planted from free seeds and some that I bought as plants, I did move a clump and lost them, if you were to try and move some I would do it when the plants are dormant and take as big a clump as you can and make sure you put them the same depth in the ground

There are both annual and perennial varieties. Neither of these will grow from bulbs. It's true that poppies are quite sensitive to being transplanted. Even transplanting seedlings can be a challenge and should be done carefully. Poppies have a nice seed pod in the fall and are easy to collect. The seeds are very tiny. I've included a link so maybe you can identify the varieties growing in that yard. If you click on a variety and scroll down, there are complete sowing instructions for the seeds. As far as taking cuttings...more trouble than I would go through since you can just collect the seeds and grow them easily from there. I hope this helps :)

If a poppy is carefully lifted and planted in a pot of potting compost, watered well, left to drain and kept in a cool greenhouse, porch or sheltered window sill it has every chance to grow and be planted out. Do this in about 4/6 weeks time, when new growth should have begun. Also, take cuttings,as follows; From the fleshy roots of the poppy, use a sharp knife to take several cuttings each about six inches long. Lay the cuttings flat on a tray of cutting compost.Sieve a little compost,to lightly cover the cuttings. Water, drain and keep in a light, warm situation until foiage appears. The new plants can be potted up as described above,or planted directly into the garedn after the soil is prepared.

Don't dig them up. Poppies are hard to transplant. They usually die if you dig them up.
