    As a kid I had a worm farm. I just used our garden soil so I don't know about the mulch. But I kept them cool and moist (In the basement) and they did very well. I sprinkled OATMEAL on the surface of the soil. I used to tap the sides of the wooden box I had made fro them and they so began to come to the surface every time I did this "feeding time!!!" I still think it is funny that you can train worms. (You can't even train some people!) Good luck with your worm farm and don't forget to have some fun.

Mulch? What type? But still should have several inches of soil Shredded newspaper is great as are dry leaves, a little grass clippings and yes, the old fruits, veggies but I wouldn't give them grease or meat. They like a slightly damp bed which is where I wonder if the fish tank would be OK, will enough air get down there, would it get soggy and drown the guys? I'm thinking not enough side ventilation. They also don't like light.......you'd have to cover the glass. Normally they food you give them is moist, plus the extra moist paper shreds, but initially in bed construction you might want to spritz the material so the guys don't dry out.
