Is Baking Soda Good For Whitening Teeth?

  • I heard that brushing your teeth with lemon juice and baking soda can strip the enamel off your teeth. Even thought my teeth are getting a bit whiter from lemon juice and baking soda, ...show more

  • Answer:

I used to do it a lot and guess what it took the enamel of my teeth and you can see where the tooth looks like it's thinning (a lil see through on the bottoms) plus I brushed so much and hard I have gum recession. Not worth it, just use whitening tooth paste and the dentist. Or you will have the wrist sensitive teeth ever.

Toothpastes containing hydrogen peroxide are commonly used for the whitening of teeth. But it is also seen that people mix baking soda with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to increase the whitening and abrasive effect. But these mixtures should be used sparingly and in combination and at intervals as recommended by a dental professional. Too much abrasion can wear enamel and lead to gum irritation, so it's not a good idea to brush with this mixture more than once or twice a week. And those who have sensitive gums must consult with their reliable and professional dentists like the dentist of Primary Dental Care in Garden Grove for help.
