Do I need to study a career to become a teacher of a foreign language or do I just need to be fluent on the language I want to teach?

Answer:
You need a degree, and in most states, courses in how to teach. Speaking a language doesn't qualify you to teach it. There's knowledge about language acquisition, methodology, phonology, explicit knowledge of grammar, classroom management and assessment that you need to know about.
