Am I eligible for Financial aid if I'm not a Resident?

What other loans can i get if im not eligible for financial aid anymore?

  • im below 67 percent, what other loans can i get?

  • Answer:

    1. I have a student loan from my local credit union at 9%. It doesn't have any deferment options, like being in the military, except being in school. 2. If your parents are will to help you out, look into a PLUS loan (Parent Loan to Undergraduate Students). It has no deferments available at all, it must be repaid in installments starting the month after its granted to you while you are a student, its interest rate is around 10% or 12%, so it isn't cheap, and, if your parents are like mine, they only signed for the loan and I repaid my own PLUS loan, not my parents, by working while I was in college. 3. Do you have a wealthy relative (no fooling!!) who's looking to bestow some cash on a deserving youngster? Ask them. You never know. Tell them about how it will lower their inheritance tax on their estate. Don't forget to talk about repayment. I know this next sentence is sick, but maybe the elderly person might kick off and you won't have to pay it back. DON'T SHOW THEM THIS NOTE!!! Good luck.

Try not to take out any student loans, you'll be paying them back forever! But if you can't help it, at least take out the minimum and get credit through other means, like taking a CLEP or DANTES test. Basically, you take the test and if you pass, you get college credit. So it could save you $1000-$5000 depending on what school you go to. Rachel

Any of the top 4 Canadian Banks have Student Lines of Credit. You apply for what you will eventually need for the entire year, however, you only take the money out as you need it (that way, interest isn't accruing on the full amount from day 1). You will need a consignor, though, and unlike OSAP, you will need to make monthly payments of interest only (interest is usually under 6%). You do not need to begin repaying the principal until 6 months after you graduate.

The bank is your best bet. At least talk to them. Avoid high interest credit companies. Where I live student loans are available at any percent. (Ontario)
