  In high school, take as much science as you can. Your work in a hospital won't help you to get a job later, honestly, but it will give you some experience in seeing the harsh side of working in health care. Oncology is messy and people die. To become a nurse, most states now require a 4 year degree to get your license. I would guess becoming a specialist, as you want to do, may take another bit, perhaps even a Master's degree. You get the experience through internships throughout your degree process. You get lots of time in hospitals doing different types of work from emergency room to pediatrics to geriatrics.
