Assuming you are in the UK, not at all.

If you are based in, and driving it in, the Republic of Ireland then you will have Republic insurance. If you are visiting the UK temporarily, notify your insurance company that you are "roaming" within another EU state. If you are based in the Republic, or have bought it in the Republic, and want to drive it the UK permanently then you will have to register it with DVLA and get UK plates and UK insurance.

Hello You do not say Northern or Southern Irish Plates or where you are. If you are in Southern Ireland and it has southern Irish Plates you are OK if it has Northern Irish Plates you can drive on them for 1 year then you will have to get it changed to Southern Irish Plates. Andy C
