  • Answer:

YOU HAVE IT BACKWARDS! When a turbo is used CORRECTLY YOU SAVE GAS! AN AUDI TURBO 2.0 gets more than 35 on highway and 25 in city! NOT TOO BAD! If you have connections with FORD< you can get the 335 HP EUROEPAN FOCUS engine that is a FIVE CYLINDER< like older AUDIs were< that gets SUPERB fuel mileage! Perhaps you can get a license and IMPORT THEM! FORD ECO BOOST engines get MORE power and MIELAGE BOTH!AS the former owner of TWO AUDI TURBO cars I KNOW what happens when it is PROEPRLY ENGINEERED! Trade your FORD in for a GREAT AUDI! You will NOT be disappointed with QUATTRO< and the BEST materials inside the cabin EVER! You will NOT believe the difference! GOOD LUCK!!

A turbo only hurts your fuel economy when you foot is deep in the skinny pedal. In some situations, it would actually increase your economy. Can't say from personal experience, but in theory, that's how it would work. I've owned cars with turbos, but never added one to a car that didn't originally have one.
