If you bought it retail, and sell it wholesale or based on karat weight you won't get back your money. The market for gold was overheated back two years ago and is down since then. If its by a known jeweler or has some historical value, or exceptional design it might be worth more than just gold value, but the only sure way is to go and ask, people offer all sorts of prices if you don't show it to them.
