    You will probably have to work nights and Saturdays if you are the new guy. Until you develop a clientele business may be slow. In my opinion it is only a matter of time before car companies try to follow the sales model set by Tesla and start selling cars on-line with very little involvement by salesmen. Pros; its a job and if you have a good personality you will probably do fine.

Who had a big stack of money and why the heck was he showing it to you ? $13 an hour isn't bad for a 19 year old. I think I made $3.35 an hour back then 32 years ago. Many dealers only hire salesman over 25 with good driving records for insurance purposes. All dealers over-hire knowing that almost everybody can sell cars to friends & family for a few months. Sales the dealer otherwise would not have gotten. And after you run out of friends & family, you have to be able to swim on your own. Like every other salesman there and the new ones they hire all the time. Its commission only with maybe a draw for the first month or two. If you don't make more than your draw, they will fire you. If you complain that you didn't make minimum wage, they will fire you & pay your back due minimum wage. Dealers hire extra salesmen to sell extra cars. They already have plenty to sell to walk up customers. Can you bring buyers to the dealership ? That's what they want out of salesman. And if you flop out after 3-4 months, they don't care, they will rinse & repeat with other new salesman. How is it you are 19 and don't have a license ?
