What is a good reason for working in retail?

Will working in retail make you dumber?! I feel that way for some reason?

    In my opinion, anything that generate an income is not dumb. Dummies are people who laze around at home in the couch doing nothing or watching TV, cutting off split ends, or twiddle their toes and watch their finger nails grow. Nothing is dumb when you know you are learning something in the course of working for that paycheck. You may think that the training is not training and there is no one to go to when you need help. That is one way you learn to figure out, improvising and resolving those daily tactical issue to overcome your mistake and manage your work load are all in the LEARNING process especially of someone pointing out your mistake and correcting you. All these combination of disappointments and frustrations will make you stronger to reach your milestone of success and be an experienced person to undertake more difficult tasks in your future endeavors *

No, there are many people in Retail who are actually quite smart. A job description does not define you. Most of those people who work in Retail are there because they choose to, not because they are dumb. However, I'm a University graduate in Computer Science and have an interest in Arts, graphic design etc. I have been working in Retail and I find it quite boring. It's not the same as doing previous jobs where I have worked with design and computers. But at the end of the day, it's a job. Over time you will get used to it. At least you have a job and were given a chance. Unlike me who has been unemployed for almost a year. If you are not completely happy, try and find a hobby to take your mind of it once in a while. For example do some photography or volunteering elsewhere or whatever. Staying in the same place all the time will make you feel bored and depressed.

Isn't it that way for any unskilled job according to ur logic? But seriously, unskilled labor such as retail actually requires harder work than white collar jobs. Handling pissed off customers while ur handling their money at the register for instance. Stay at ur ****** job and stop bitching. If u think u could get a better job, then start looking and find one b4 u quit.
