  • Answer:

You could major or minor in biology once you get to college. With a degree in biology, you could become a teacher/college professor, go into the medical field, and so forth. Going into college level teaching as a college professor is competitive though so you would need to earn a Ph.D in biology. A Ph.D requires 12 years of schooling but if you're truly passionate about the subject, then you should have no problem. College professors get paid $80,000 to $90,000 a year! Not only is that great pay, but it's one of the easiest jobs in the world vs. teaching at the high school level which is a lot more stressful and pay is significantly lower. Yes, you should continue studying calculus in college as there are different kinds (business calculus, multivariable, and so forth). Also, consider taking math courses in statistics.

Check for MOOCs. These are free online (no credit) courses that are at the collegiate level. You may be able to get credit through certain examinations (like CLEP). EdX and Courseera are great ones. Just google them, and browse their course offerings!
