You need to "prove" you can do it. If you're planning an event, take pictures before people arrive but after it's set up and a few during. Build a portfolio of your talent and work. Then create a website and some flyers. Advertise your talents on FB. It'll take a while to build up a reputation to become a big/great event planner.
