How can universities market themselves?

2U Inc.: How does 2tor market to universities?

  • Just generally interested to learn more as I think its a cool company and challenge

  • Answer:

2u matches the university's investment to bring the university on-line (10 million I believe) and only hires people passionate about education.  They also only take one of each school.  For example if 2u brings on-line USC's Master's in education program, then it will not bring on another Master's program in education from another university.

Other answers

2U forms close relationships across higher ed and has lots of conversations to find perfect fits. It's a small number of big sales rather than mass marketing and only works if both sides are fully on board. Relevant provosts, etc. know 2U because of its reputation, and the company is actually in the fortunate position of turning down inbound leads far more so than "marketing" for new ones. If you build an amazing product people will want it; within higher ed, 2U's outcomes are highly respected. Disclosure: I used to work at 2U/2tor.
