Apparently, your thinking skills are limited. There were no conservatives running anything in those years. There were Republicans, like Bush and DeLay and McConnell, but conservatives? Uh-uh. It was conservatives who led the fight against Bush's immigration reform (amnesty first, enforcement maybe later), which was considered to be a very non-conservative proposal. But conservatives never had control then, and haven't had control of government since sometime in the 1800s, when even Democrats understood that the Constitution did not allow for charitable welfare expenditures.

You so ingloriously have no clue how conservatives and liberals view as progress. Conservatives rarely view what passes in Congress as progress, when that's all liberals deem progress. For true conservatives, it;s what congress failed to pass as the real progress. It's what could have been, but blocked that we tuly see as our accomplishments. That said...conservatism failed during Bush, as he expanded government like the neocon statist we knew him to be. Not sure why you radical libbies hate Bush, he did more to expand government treachery than Clinton ever dreamed of.

Said monopoly was achieved during the 2002 mid-term, the 2004 Presidential and the 2006 mid-term. Did Republicans elect themselves, or did the American electorate have a say in that? Obama lost his monopoly at the first mid-term hurdle he faced and may well face a Republican Congress after the 2014 mid-terms. Well first of all there isn't much contrast between liberals and conservatives. Liberals give people handouts that make people comfortably lazy, and Conservative get people to buy products that make them more lazy.

The ones in Washington DC are known as RINO's (republicans in name only) which means they've got the same agenda as progressive liberals.
