What did Napoleon Hill mean by "hexing method" quote?

  • I was reading his book and found this quote to be weird, not sure if he is being sarcastic or trying to say that black magic is real: There is a certain religious sect whose members take vengeance upon their enemies by the “hexing”method. What did he mean?

And when their enemies think they are "hexed", their paranoia will cause them to actually feel bad and focus on the bad things happening to them (some might be their own doing).
