  There are several things that represent "sex" in general and for each gender As for the act itself, the best place to look for these symbols are in older movies. Waves rolling over the beach was known to represent this. A couple would be together and suddenly the scene would blank out and cut to waves or water lapping over the bank or sand. An actress smoking a cigarette represented a similar act. If she was talking to a man and took out a cigarette and started smoking it- the act was going to happen or had happened. These are the main ones I really remember off the top of my head but there are many more. I know you said no people but this is a "goddess" The goddess Aphrodite was the goddess of beauty and to an extent sex or the femininity of a woman. For a woman, sex symbols vary. It's easy for things to /become/ sex symbols as well. Anything like a bowl or a chalice could represent sex for a woman because it acts like her womb. In retrospect Keys or a pen placed in the bowl or chalice represented him taking the woman in a sexual way. If a woman had a bowl she loved or owned and allowed a man to put his keys or pen in her bowl, it's the same as subtly suggesting they were lovers. It's all about subtext. A red rose could symbolize sex to a degree. It represents passion, desire, and if in the right context- sex.
