How would you create a promotional strategy?

How can I create back-end web development strategy?

• I suppose that I was a Ruby/Rails developer till I've been out of job.  I could play with Ruby/Rails but I couldn't create any real project. And I recognize that I have no strategy about back-end web development. How can I create it and which points should I take care?

  You Don't Need to Create a Strategy You need to go build some stuff. If you want to learn how to play a guitar, you need to spend a lot of time playing a guitar.  Similarly, if you want to learn how to be a strong backend developer, you need to go out and build a bunch of backend systems.  If you're not currently working, go get an account on Elance, check your local Craig's List, and talk to your friends and family about possible projects you can do for cheap.  Do your first few projects on fixed rate, and slug it out until you figure it out and deliver good results for your clients, whatever it takes.  You'll be forced to buy a good book on programming, take a few online classes, or work your way through a ton of tutorials you find on Google.  You'll also rapidly gain stronger backend skills. Rails might not be the ideal platform to learn in either.  You might want to start with PHP, unless you're already fairly experienced with HTTP GET and POST requests.  PHP is a lot grittier and forces you to do more work yourself.  You'll learn faster, and once you've built a couple of light admin systems in PHP, you'll be highly motivated to overcome the Rails learning curve in exchange for not having to build everything by hand anymore. Once you're kicking backend, your strategy will flow forth from within.
