What are latest developments in food industry?

Is Japan's food industry better than the corrupt American food industry?

• I already know they have a better society, but what about the food industry? Is it less corrupt than the poison American food industry? Also what about other countries?

  ...have you ever been to Japan? It's not a better society. It's not a worse one, either, but they definitely have their problems. I lived there for a while. They do certain things better than the United States, but definitely not all things. (I've noticed that a lot of Westerners tend to deify Japan to an annoying degree. It's not nirvana over there.) And in terms of their food industry... a lot of their food comes from the United States. Top consumer oriented food products exported to Japan in 2012 included red meats, processed fruits and vegetables, fresh fruit, pet foods, tree nuts, dairy products and snack foods. So, no. It's not really better. Japan isn't big enough to produce enough food to feed its population, particularly since so much of the land is mountainous is not good for either habitation or farming.
