What constitutes abuse nowadays?

What constitutes reportable abuse?

  • i reported one of the answers here (the ramzo one) but it is still there, so what does yahoo constitute as abuse and how would i report it better? ...show more

  • Answer:

Most times will take two or more "trusted users" to report a violation to have it removed. You, I notice, have only been using Answers for almost 2 weeks. You will have little "trust" when it comes to reporting so your reporting the answer alone will not necessarily remove it. At this stage you need to hope that other users are like you & report the offending answer to have it removed. As a new user you might like to take he Guidelines Quiz. You will learn what is good & what is bad. Plus if you get enough answers correct you will receive 20 points. https://answers.yahoo.com/info/community_guidelines/quiz

As you started out fairly recently, don't expect to to be able to remove violations on your own yet. A lot depends on trust rating yes. That takes time to happen, and build a good trust rating. However if you are in doubt, you can go to Chatzy, and if someone is in, they can help you to identify if it is in fact spam or another type of violation. However anyone there is another user like yourself. Also The Chatzy chat room isn't manned twenty four hours, like it used to be. Below is the link to the Suggestion board Chatzy. http://www.chatzy.com/956788853016 As a note though, Community Moderation, seems to be not working properly at the moment. However when it is working properly, those with a good trust rating, can remove most violations, with a single report. As an example, known trolls, and new accounts posting known spam to known spam sites. Also avoid posting violations yourself, as getting reported will have a negative affect on your trust rating. Also when Community moderation is down, and not working, as it seems to be the case at the moment, avoid reporting, as this can impact you trust rating. A way to help build your trust rating, is if you can find others to work with reporting, and also finding spammers whose accounts have been deleted, and reporting those. As for other things that are violations rants, and insults, which can be reported.

It takes multiple reports from reliable reporters to have things removed that violate the Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. There is no magic list since it takes some history on the site to understand all the rules. The other problem is that the site has had the hiccups with the reporting system the last week, so some things that would be deleted have not been. All you can do is report violations when you see them.

there is no "Ramzo" answer there when I follow the link so apparently the report got acted on. How an abuse report gets handled is, apparently, partly based on the "reliability" of the reporter. Someone who has made numerous reports that are always valid becomes "reliable" somehow, and their reports get acted upon automatically. Other reports may require an investigation before action is taken. Some people have abused the abuse reporting system and their reports do not get acted upon, apparently. I don't work for Yahoo and Yahoo isn't totally transparent about how things work, but what I describe here is what I interpret from the info you can get.
