How is horseback riding NOT a sport?

  I decided to answer even though you asked for non-believers. I doubt you will get any to come forward, all are cowards who believe horse riding is not a sport anyway, those who love drama never agree on much. What I do know all to well is that it's easy for one to talk, but not walk the walk. Horseback riding is indeed a sport, and it's called Equestrianism, more often known as riding, horseback riding, which refers to the skill of riding, driving, or vaulting with horses. It takes great skill and commitment to ride horses. Yes, a Sport because it can be competitive, and is entertaining. You could as those who challenge you to look up Equestrianism and Sport..oh better yet Challenge them to a ride..that will teach them to judge the sport..LOL, I remember all to well when I first started..Not so easy, not so easy at all. Also, If riding horses were not a sport, there would not be an olympic event for it. By definition: "A sport consists of a normal physical activity or skill carried out under a publicly agreed set of rules, and with a recreational purpose: for competition, for self-enjoyment, to attain excellence, for the development of skill, or some combination of these. The difference of purpose is what characterizes sport, combined with the notion of individual (or team) skill or prowess." (1) Horse and rider are both athletes making it a sport, which has been around for centuries. . :)
