How can I open this file?

ERROR: “Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them.†I’ve always been able to open this file before. The file extension has been changed but I’d just get a windows asking me which program I wanted to use to open them up. Now after installing (and removing) a file extension utility – I cannot open them. I can’t even get a prompt (w/right button mouse) to “open withâ€.

Answer:
I would look in your registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and search for the extension and see which applications are assigned to open that file. You can change it to any application you wish, given that you have that application installed, of course
