Hi. I am an obsessive reader, reader upto 8 books at a time ranging from innovatio, business, management to biographies to fiction. I catalogued my ebook collection into folders, and read them on my laptop and kindle. Here's how they are arranged: Books > Contains folders each for Design Thinking, Eclectica, Great Minds, People, Presentation, Strategy and Management, Visual Design Design Thinking > No subfolders. Contains books on Thought, creativity, innovation, design thinking). Eclectica > Contains folders each for Bestsellers, Poetry, Psychology, Quotes Great Minds > No subfolders. Contains books on/by great minds. Books on Steve Jobs, by warren buffet, einstein, michio kaku, stephen hawking etc. People > Self-help books. Presentation > Folders each for business writing, powerpoint presentations, presentations, story-telling. Strategy and Management > Folders each for Articles, CEO Reads, Economics, Finance, HBR, MBA. Visual Design > A lot of books on visual design, data visualizations. Also has folders each for articles, bonsai, geometry, logo design, origami, typography Just wanted to know how you guys arranged your collections. Also, is there a way I can make my system leaner and simpler?

Answer:
I have my e-books categorized into Purpose > Theme > Author > Alphabetical; maybe that's the missing piece in your file structure.

The simplest way would be to use search. Next might be all inserted as hyperlinks on a single wiki-like page, including those for cloud storage, or disk documents as shown in browser, e.g. windows file:///c:/... Evernote app has been useful for notes and writing. Entries are indexed by folder, stack, or tags, and can be searched. It can save urls, They then run the reader app such as pdf or kindle. Google books also has folders and search.

Adobe Digital Editions has this feature, but I cannot vouch for it since I don't use it. Adobe Digital Editions is a pretty beautiful set up, so maybe you should check it out.

Calibre is a very good ebook manager. As long as the books are well tagged, you can then export to a folder structure according to any criteria, either author, genre, whatever. In the beginning I did not really like it but then you will see that you can use the software well and when you want to see the folders like that, you can just export very easily and very flexibly.
