How can I hide my public post on my public profile on Google+?

• I think many of us have posted something funny, childish, extreme, or inappropriate on our google plus profile. Now that we want our profile to look more professional, less seems to be better. Currently there is no way to hide our public posts, which is perfectly easy to do in Facebook Timeline privacy options. Some of our posts hold sentimental value so we don't want to delete them but we don't want the whole world to see them either, just to share with our circles.

  Public posts cannot be converted to private posts on Google+ at this time. The best course of action for convenience is to Share your Public posts with the appropriate circles (keeping it non-Public), and then deleting the original Public post. The link to the original will be broken, but the content of the message will be preserved. Any comments will not be preserved, as per basic Sharing functionality in Google+. The alternate route is saving the post's content, and creating an entirely new post with it.
