What effect does an abnormally cold winter have on the summer afterwards?

Unfortunately, abnormally cold winters drive you so close to the brink of insanity that by the time you've recovered, summer is already over and it's snowing again.

I must respectfully disagree with the other replies here.  We had a nice and cold Winter (for once, thank goodness), but it's turned very warm and we've already had insects come inside the house, even a couple of bees and wasps.  So, the "fewer insects" comment is wrong.  I've seen many bugs in and out.  Spiders have been seen in the house and one really big spider just outside the window has made a web almost a foot in diameter. What most call an "abnormally cold Winter" is actually a normal Winter.  In recent Winters, it's been abnormally warm and relatively snowless that it was driving me crazy.  Most people were "spoiled" with such "Winters" that they seemed to have accepted them and like them.  It's nice to have a normal cold and snowy Winter, like it should be and like the kind I grew up with.  I only wish it would have lasted longer than it did.  I live in New Jersey.  I hope next Winter lasts longer and is colder and snowier than the one we had this past Winter.  We were promised three big snowstorms in March and all three fizzled out and never hit us, so that pissed me off (thanks a lot, Mother Nature!).  That's why I said I wish it would have lasted longer than it did.  Unlike most people, I LOVE cold and snowy Winters (except for blizzards and ice storms). It's only June and I already hate the warm weather we're having.  You know we hit 90°F already yesterday?  I can't even take 80°F, let alone 90°F.  It's gonna be a long hot Summer, I'm afraid. Since New Year's, I've been counting down the days until Fall.  Fall is actually my favorite scene, closely followed by Winter.  I hate Spring and Summer and wish it was Fall now. Countdown to Fall is just under 110 days.
