Can a stock exchange company go bust?
-
i've just found out today via random googling that stock exchange themselves are actually companies that is traded in their own exchange. for example, the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Stock_Exchange_Group then what will happen if this company stock goes bankrupt? what will happen to all these securities that are traded in them? will they all go bust or stuck?

Answer:
A stock exchange goes belly up, all the companies traded on it simply would move to another exchange the same way if a grocery store chain went out of business there'd be other places to buy your can of beans.
