It varies from school-to-school, state-to-state, and country-to-country. I'm majoring in elementary education in Kentucky (children from 5-11ish). Our general education courses (the first two years) are very diverse. We HAD to have: -2 Writing classes -1 Literature Class -2 Music Classes -2 Art Classes -3 Math Classes -2 History Classes -1 Geography Class -1 Class from another social science -1 Biology Class -1 Class from another science. Then usually around your third year, your classes become more geared for your major. I just got out of what we call our "literacy block." It was three classes that focused on reading and writing in elementary grades. In addition, we had a math class, and an assessment class. Next semester I will have a science and social studies block.

it depends on the college you want to go to; they're all slightly different. look at a few colleges you might be interested in. on their website, there's usually a list of the programs they offer. if you look at the teacher program you want, the courses should be listed there.
