Should I be scared of flying for the first time ever?

Flying alone for the first time and scared?

  • Ive always flew with my mother but this time im flying alone to reunite with a friend in California. Im so afraid. I live in New York so its pretty far away. Any tips?

  • Answer:

Knowing your age would help. Take snacks. Buy a bottle of water to take AFTER you go through security. Have a book to read. There will probably be a movie during the flight. If you have to change flights on the way don't feel bad about asking someone (airline person) for help getting to the next gate.

You didn't mention any layovers you might have so I'm assuming its a direct flight. If this is the case, nothing to be worried about. Just get on the plane and fly to your destination. If you do have a layover somewhere, get to the next gate immediately. Follow the signs and ask for help if need be. Don't worry about your luggage; it should be transferred. Good luck and happy travels (:

I can understand that you are afraid to fly airplanes - But what I do not grasp, is that you are not scared to ride in cars - Chances of dying in car accident are thousand times higher than in airplanes - I was an airline pilot for nearly 40 years - And I am still alive, after averaging nearly a dozen flights monthly - Strange fact, right...?
