How to teach homeschooling?

How to make homeschooling fun and help to teach a child to sit still long enough to learn? This is for kindergarten.?

Who said you have to sit still to learn? Make it an adventure. Make it fun. Let her explore the world around her. It is kindergarten and she has 11 more years to learn the hard stuff. Practice on counting, colors, letters. Mine are home schooled, but I get to pick the curriculum and as long as we hit the required subjects for the required amount of days and hours it doesn't matter what form of learning styles we use.

Kids at that age do better if they're allowed to move often. In fact, they often learn best through movement. If your child absolutely HAS to sit, let him get up and move every 10-15 minutes. Doesn't have to be a long break--can be 1-2 minutes (enough time to do some movement and get the wiggles out). Young children have relatively short attention spans and generally do best when alternating activities which require sitting still and focusing with those that allow for physical movement.

Why are you starting so early..studies have proven that kids who start school at 7 or 8 learn faster and graduate sooner than their counterparts. I read one study that was done in France that showed that kids brains aren't mature enough to learn until age nine. My first "official" year of homeschooling was spent traveling our state and looking at it's treasures. I taught by example for the first two years. At age 8, I started looking at curriculum to see what would be best for my family. I used a lot of different kinds of books, i.e. Saxon Math, A-Beka for science, Easy Grammar for English, easy history books from different publishers, and McGuffey readers ( I read them stories from day one from these books and taught them their alphabet and beginning reading as well). Kids at that age are not going to sit still for very long as it is and making him sit for long periods will only frustrate the both of you. I let my kids do their homework where ever they wanted to as long as they got it done. When they wanted help we were always available. Also look for a home school group in your area to join. They might have field trips, sports, and/or group activities.
