Vegans: Are there many vegan/vegan-friendly restaurants in your area?

  • Answer:

I'm kinda lucky. I'm in New York State, but I live in a rural part. Still, there are lots of Chinese and Indian places around. They serve stuff like tempeh and tofu, so at least I know I can go out to eat with a friend without feeling like a douche. But there are no specifically vegan or vegetarian places around. I visit the city every few weeks and there's a lot of places down there to eat. Even a place that sells vegan donuts...ohhhh maaaann.... But they're mostly very expensive down there.

I don't eat out, since everything tends to be prepared with chemically-refined cooking oils and/or buttery spreads. Plus, everything has wheat or other unhealthy types grains in it (lectin overload FTL). It's just a waste of money, for low-quality, unhealthy foods - even if they do successfully market it as healthy to the uniformed.

I can tell you that I live in a small town in the South East part of Missouri. We have nothing, some farmers markets is the best we can do. lol I was a vegan for about 4 months but it is just to hard to go out with friends to eat an for the most part all they have to offer are salad. They think fruit salad comes in a can.
