Think carefully and focus where the last place you set it. - question your surroundings who probably witness the location of your phone or luckily they took it. if you still cannot find your ipod, then buy a new one and learn your mistake to not commit again.

Geez I'm sorry about your iPod :( I have had the same exact thing happen to me many times with my electronics its unexplainable. In situations like this, Find MY iPhone makes me pissed off because of how useless it is. Offline means it is either out of battery or like you said, not connected to internet. My answer seems completely useless but all I can tell you is that you will get NO WHERE with the Find MY iPhone app. What I would do is put up flyers saying bring it back or whatever and offer some cash for returning it. If your iPod was protected with a password then nobody will be able to connect to the internet therefore FIND MY IPHONE IS A PIECE OF TRASH WHICH NEEDS TO DIE.
