What's the best site for comparing marketing department salaries?
-
http://Salary.com doesn't seem to have much information on updated marketing roles (i.e. roles including search, social, lead gen, inbound, seo, metrics, etc.) What are the best sites to compare salary ranges for "new school" marketing departments, most notably in startups up to 100 people?

Answer:
I think PayScale is the best. Not only is their data amazing, but they have excellent career and educational planning tools. http://www.payscale.com/mypayscale.aspx

What's wrong with Glass Door? Won't have as many startups as you want but other than equity comp the numbers won't be too different. If you can become friends with an HR compensation expert at any mid to large company, they no doubt subscribe to salary surveys and probably know some numbers off the top of their head.

Glassdoor enables people to post salaries, which tend to be more realistic than reports, which present average salaries. Creative Group posts annual salaries for creative people. See http://www.roberthalf.com/creativegroup/2016-salary-center

For startups and private companies as a whole, best practice dictates the use of corporate level data, not consumer self-reported data. There are several critical reasons for this, one of which is that there is no standard when an individual reports their own data. How are you going to compare an employee at Company A vs. an employee at Company B? Compensation at a startup which just raised a $250k seed round looks drastically different than a company which just closed its Series C. Very few individuals are privy to company metrics such as revenue, valuation, profitability, capital raised, etc - All of which are critical barometers for a private company.https://www.advanced-hr.com/ has been at the forefront of startup compensation for the past two decades. What sets Advanced-HR apart:Some highlights: Free for all participants. Unparalleled data quality. 1500+ private, venture backed companies. Unlimited data cuts for metrics such as revenue, capital raised, funding round, company value, and headcount. The most widely used source of equity data at startups. All reports necessary to structure cash and equity plans.

The best is http://Emolument.com but I would say that!! It's completely free and you browse through a super detailed job taxonomy. Nothing like expensive and confusing salary . com .
