How does the Radio App work?

How does it find so many station and let you stream it live. An example of an app is this https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/songbot-song-finder/id846531304?mt=8 it let's you search for the songs in more than 90k station, how does it do that? One of its features is listed below: Search for a song and listen to it right now. Our songbots are actively searching over 90,000 (AM/FM/Internet) stations and finding out what they’re playing in real-time. Tell your personal Songbot what you want to hear, and it'll find the station that's playing the song right now. No more waiting for your favorite song to come on. There are more features listed on the app store. My question is what technology is used behind this app. Are they using a search engine or some sort to achieve this? How did they even get to find 90k station?
