  Charlize Theron, the actress, learned her perfect spoken American accent by watching hours and hours of American TV and movies, listening carefully, and then trying to repeat the speech over and over. I once had a friend whose native language was Spanish, with a heavy Spanish accent when speaking English. I tried to get him to improve his accent but he never seemed motivated to improve. I remember hearing him say the word "major" as "mayor", and I coached him to say it correctly in English. The next day I overheard him saying "mayor" again. I guess he was just dense and didn't want to learn. He also would say "these" when he should be saying "this", and "cheeps" when he should say "chips". I tried to coach him but he kept reverting to his old ways. I don't get it. Keep trying and you will certainly improve. Don't give a damn and you will never improve.
