Why is Google font size really big?

How does Google Maps decide which business should appear in which font size and at what zoom-in level ?

  • On Google Maps, my business listing appears in relatively small font at a high zoom-in level. Whereas, a business next door (which is relatively smaller) appears in larger font without much zoom-in.

  • Answer:

Place labels shown on Google Maps are determined by an algorithm that takes various factors into account, all of which are not specified by Google. As per their support page two factors are 1) Accuracy of information and richness of content like photos, reviews, ratings etc. 2) Verification of you business Apart from that I believe how frequently ppl search you business and density/age of other business around also plays a role but I can't say for sure. You can do a comparison on these parameters and see how you can improve your chances. Good luck :-)
