  if in USA, google the fire dept where u want to work. find out on their websites what they want from applicants. DO have skill that can get u a job out side of Fire dept as many have no hiring for 2-5 yrs. they also have cattle call testing process. 1000s show up to test for 20 positions. most big cities require 45 -60 credit hours of college. in USA , u could do that and get a good paying job earning 35,000 - 65,000$yrly with out the family issues firefighters have. visit BLS.gov/OOH and a library for careers/jobs that actually are in demand (job openings). with 2 yrs left u could use military education course to get 30 - 45 credit hours at a decent cost.
