Does a sound bar make a TV sound alot better for movies?

Im having the same problem with my tv BUT my TVs sound does not work. I'm told I need a stereo with speakers to make my sound work. I?

    If the sound bar requires an optical cable to hook it to the tv then you need one. I'm pretty sure your Samsung DLP tv only has an optical out for sound. If you have a cable box, you can run the red/white audio cables straight from it to your sound bar and turn off the tv sound.
